Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and was a panelist at the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell participated on a panel during the 1988 debates with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. She covered many notable issues, such as the arm control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to various summits while in the company of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
